Outstanding! Wow, I could not stop reading this book. I had to know what happens next. I can not wait until the next book comes out. I wish this author would sell paperback. I would buy all off his work. I'm still waiting for the next Kia book, and hopefully the next Cartosia book. That would be awesome. Buy this book, you will not be disappointed.Product details

Brain Drain Jade Earth Book 1 eBook JP Larson Reviews
I found the book to be different enough from the authors usual story type to keep me interested. While it does have some common themes with other books the author has written their are some unique twists that give it it's own spin. So far I like the book. As long the author can continue to grow the characters while keeping the first books style I have high hopes for this series.
This is the beginning of a planned series, so don't expect everything to be resolved- it doesn't end on a cliffhanger but there's plenty of foreshadowing. It's a great read and will lead you wondering where things will go next. The quality of the writing is excellent though the pacing is a bit uneven. Many of Larson's books are fantasy based, but this is more towards a techno thriller- though focussing more on relationships than events, as is his usual way.
A word of warning A book that mentions World War 3 in the blurb is never going to be that cheerful, but there's one scene that almost made me sick, and has disturbed my sleep for a couple of nights- not because of what happens (no blood or guts) but because of the casual cruelty, and who it happens to. And that's as much as I can really say without spoiling the story (I'm sure those who've read it will know exactly which bit I mean). For those who've read Larson's Spell for Kia books, this is not, I suppose, as bad as some of the things that happen to Kia- but it felt worse to me. I think that's because the story begins in our current reality.
The story is told from the viewpoint of Bartholomew (Bart or Holly) Long, a brilliant theoretical physicist. Larson's viewpoint characters tend to all have the same sort of internal voice, and they often react and speak in similar ways- this is not really a big criticism, it's a very hard thing to avoid and widely published authors frequently struggle with it too- but it means that if you enjoy, or identify with, or hate the narrator in one of his books, you will probably feel the same about all of them.
awesome story, i really enjoyed it and am looking forward to the next one
